Our client is looking to appoint an Instructor/Assessor on a part time basis in Inverness.
Requirements
Applicants should be enthusiastic, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with learners.
Candidates should have relevant Motor Industry Qualifications with a sound knowledge and experience of vehicle complex systems, DVSA (VOSA) examination procedures and requirements.
Previous experience of teaching, instructing and assessing would be an advantage however continued personal development towards relevant qualifications will be provided.
Candidates should have excellent computer and IT skills to further develop presentations, delivery of training and online study and teaching systems.
Purpose of the Job
The job has two main roles that of Instructor and Vocational Qualification Assessor /Internal Verifier.
The purpose of Instructor is to instruct course participants in the correct techniques appropriate to their needs.
The purpose of Assessor/Internal Verifier is to assess evidence produced by the candidate and match it against Awarding Body requirements.
Relationships
Directly to the Managing Director and Training Director.
Indirectly to the Awarding Body for the correct administration of assessment procedures.
Main Duties
Instructor
- To ensure by example as well as instruction that conduct, dress and general behaviour is in a manner which actively enhances the quality provision of the training programmes.
- Provide suitable and sufficient instruction to ensure correct delivery of the scheme programme.
- Develop and maintain teaching and training plans.
- Ensure all training and learning activities are carried out in accordance with statutory and organisational policy and procedures for Health and Safety.
- Develop good working relationships with course participants.
- Ensure equipment used for training is maintained in a safe and suitable condition.
- Ensure the training area is safe, clean and in a tidy condition.
- Produce such training records as may be required.
- Monitor and assess participants' progress and give additional assistance/guidance where appropriate.
- Bring to the Training Director's notice any potential problems which may prevent the above duties from being achieved.
Assessor
- Examine the evidence of competent performance produced by candidates.
- Assist candidates to identify relevant evidence.
- Assist candidates with the production of their portfolio of evidence.
- Produce Assessment Plans.
- Make assessment decision and provide constructive feedback to candidates.
- Make best use of naturally occurring evidence.
- Encourage candidates to seek Vocational Qualification.
- Be fully aware of the Awarding Bodies' requirements for the gaining of VQs.
- Pass on appropriate assessment decisions to Internal Verifier for forwarding to appropriate Awarding Body.
- Keep accurate records of meetings, assessment decisions and evidence of feedback to candidates.
- Provide as much help and assistance including guidance advice on likely achievement of goals and aspirations as may be required by candidates
- Provide a quality service.
